Islamorada / September 8
2nd Annual Community Island Cleanup
Participate in a fun event supporting the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce to help keep the beaches, waterways and roads clean for everyone’s enjoyment. Pitch in and vacation for the greater good. The event is to take place between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., clean up is from MM 72 to MM 90. Groups, individuals and families can all pitch in, register at Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina, at 6:30 a.m. A ‘Thank You’ party is to follow with prizes, refreshments and entertainment.
Key Largo / September 8
Teams of up to four divers compete for up to $3,300 in cash and prizes. Derby divers who successfully remove invasive lionfish from sanctuary waters can win for most, largest and smallest lionfish. The Upper Keys derby is held at Coconuts Restaurant. Visit REEF website to register; teams of up to four people can join. Early registration fee is $100 ($120 after Sept. 5), and includes one pair of puncture-resistant gloves per team. Divers can participate in a derby from their own private vessel or join a professional dive operator’s charter.

Key West / January 01 to December 31
Enjoy a fabulous tour of Key West…with a twist. A gay twist that is! Get a unique tour of Key West and learn about our colorful history that includes the famous and the infamous. Departs from the City Hall Parking Lot, located on the corner of Angela and Simonton. Tickets $25. Can be purchased ONLINE or at the trolley, our G&L Visitor Center (located at 513 Truman), and many of our distinguished gay and lesbian guest houses.
Key West / March 17 – November 30
More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). In a March kickoff event, anglers target 15 species and $5,000 in cash prizes is split between the top anglers.

Key West / September 4 – 9
Womenfest offers a wide range of activities guaranteed to appeal to a broad range of interests. Golfing with palm trees and iguanas, clothing-optional pool parties, a sizzling dance club scene, and women-only water excursions that range from jet skis to dolphin watching all promise to pique the interest of the more adventurous while film, live music, and special comedy shows offer the opportunity to enjoy paradise at a slower pace. All of this on a tropical island that is close to perfect and far from normal!

Key West / September 7
Special art exhibitions and receptions at galleries and shops along Upper Duval Street from Truman to United, from 6-9 p.m. during this monthly art walk. Participants include SoDu, Frangipani, Island Arts Co-op, Siduri’s Place, Joy Gallery, as well as Cork & Stogie and Grand Vin wine bars, featuring new wines for the fall season. Franco’s Deli will be pairing up specialty foods that are available on their catering menu, Greg Trudeau and his guitar will entertain and the latest artwork and jewelry of Leslie Bevens are to be featured.
Key West / September 7 – 9
In the first of three tournaments in the annual Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series, also called The Trilogy, anglers target tarpon, permit and bonefish to achieve the coveted “flats grand slam.” The event raises funds for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
